TRP acquires a new state-of-the-art container crane
Last modified date: 13-07-2010
Constructed by ZPMC in Shanghai, China, the new crane is built from high-resistance steel, and with high-precision European and Asian parts.
Its dimensions are as follows: 100 meters long, 6 meters high, and 31 meters wide. Its weight is 1,150 tons and has an outreach —i.e., the crane rojection over the water— of 45 meters.
This allows the crane to manage the loading and unloading of up to 16 container rows on post-panamax vessels, with a lifting capacity of 66.3 tons maximum safe load –with one ISO 40’ container or two ISO 20’ Twinlift containers.
This state-of-the art crane took four months’ designing, nine months’ manufacturing and two months for carriage and installation to render it able to operate in our terminal, at dock C of the
Port of Buenos Aires.
With this new crane, Terminales Río de la Plata will have nine gantry cranes –four of which are of the Post-Panamax type-, two Quay Gantry Crane, and twenty-one RTGs –which allow us to
operate with a high efficiency standard.
